Not all of us are lucky enough to keep a full set of natural teeth. Dentures offer an affordable solution for patients in need of a new smile.
Dentures are necessary when someone has lost some or all of their natural teeth. They can restore a person’s ability to smile, speak, and chew and can also maintain facial structure. If you have experienced tooth loss, dentures offer an effective way to restore your natural-looking smile.
Dental dentures are prosthetic dental devices that are used to replace missing teeth and can be removed from your mouth as you wish. They are made of a plastic base and can be either full or partial. Depending on your needs, you may receive partial dentures that replace a few missing teeth or complete dentures that replace an entire arch of missing teeth.
With proper cleanings and good oral hygiene practices, dentures can last up to ten years before they need replacement.

Dentures are typically the most affordable way to replace several teeth or a whole mouth of missing or damaged teeth. They are usually covered by dental insurance up to applicable limits, which makes them a budget-friendly option.
Even if you’re just missing a couple of teeth, you may have trouble chewing and eating your favorite foods. By replacing your missing teeth, dentures improve your ability to eat and maintain a healthy diet.
Tooth loss can make you feel self-conscious or embarrassed. With full or partial dentures, we can help you feel great about how you look once again.
Losing your teeth also affects your speech. With dentures, you’ll be able to speak normally again, and you’ll feel more confident in social situations, business, and in many other situations in your life.
The first step is to have an initial consultation with your dentist in Commerce Township. During the consultation, your Commerce Township dentist will assess your oral health and review your treatment options. If you’re the right candidate, the dentist will prepare your mouth for dentures by conducting the necessary extractions and other treatments.
After your mouth is prepared, one of our dentists will take an impression of your jaws, which will be used to create customized dentures.
Once your dentures are ready, the dentist will place them in your mouth and ensure they fit perfectly. Our dentures are made from top-quality materials to ensure they are comfortable and durable.
Dentures are one of the most common dental restoration options for patients who have lost most of their teeth because of issues like dental trauma, gum disease, or age. They can last between seven and ten years, based on how well they are cared for, the material they are made of, and how often they are replaced.
Most people, regardless of age, are typically suited for dentures. However, the best candidates are those who are missing most of their teeth or have sensitive teeth and tooth decay due to extraction.
It is advisable that you schedule a consultation with your dentist to determine if dentures are the ideal option for you. Your dentist will evaluate your oral health and medical history and recommend what suits you.
Partial dentures are used to replace one or multiple missing teeth. They consist of multiple false teeth, which are attached to a metal and plastic framework. This framework fits around and snaps onto your natural healthy teeth. In turn, these teeth hold your partial dentures in place, restoring your smile and your bite. Partial dentures are a good low-cost alternative to treatments like dental implants or dental bridges.
Full dentures are usually only recommended if you have a full mouth of missing or damaged teeth. This is because they require the extraction of any remaining healthy teeth. Your dentures must fit perfectly over your gums, so you can’t have any teeth if you get full dentures.
However, full dentures are a great, cost-effective way to restore your entire smile and recover from serious oral health problems. To find out if they're right for you, schedule a consultation with our team at Commerce Village Dentists.
If you need any tooth extractions, these will be done before your denture fitting. Then, you’ll come back to Commerce Village Dentists once your mouth has healed. Your dentist will take impressions of your gums and/or teeth, then use this information to create a special bite mold. Then, he will work closely with a dental lab to build a set of test dentures. You’ll be sent home in the meantime.
Once your test dentures arrive, your dentist will check them and see how they fit. They will make notes about the fit, then send the test dentures back with his notes. Your test dentures will then be remade and sent back to our office. This process may be repeated multiple times to make sure your dentures fit perfectly.
Once everything fits perfectly, we will order your permanent dentures. Once they arrive, you’ll come in for one last appointment. You’ll try on your new teeth, then get instructions on how to care for your dentures, gums, and teeth. After this, you’ll be sent home to enjoy your new smile.
